VW California Camper Van Control Panel LCD -missing pixels on display

Problem

VW California camper vans have a control unit with LCD which commonly develops a fault.

The display misses horizontal lines of pixels making it difficult to read.

Because this control unit is used for many important functions, it is important to be able to read the display.

Diagnosis

The cause of this is often a degraded connection at the PCB, where a flexible ribbon cable connects. Making a new connection to the PCB was required to make the display function properly.

Solution

Once fixed the display is readable.
